LORAIN — Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification and apprehension of the person who shot and killed a man at the Taco Bell drive-thru on Oberlin Avenue on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a black male, thin to medium build and about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a yellow shirt and tan or khaki pants and a baseball hat. He was last observed fleeing on foot from the scene.

He is considered armed and dangerous

Robert Gnizak, 49, of Lorain, was found dead in the car when police arrived at the Taco Bell at 11:03 p.m. Gnizak was a veteran who served in the Navy from 1986 to 1990.

Capt. Roger Watkins said Gnizak was riding in the car with a female friend when the robbery happened.

He said while they were pulled up to order food, a man came up to the passenger side of the car and tried to rob the occupants before fatally shooting Gnizak.

A person in a car behind them called 911, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (440) 204-2105 or (440) 204-2100.
