LORAIN — Daniel Barreiro, the twin brother of a 23-year-old Lorain man murdered during a home invasion Saturday, said his twin was passionate about his daughter and his music career.

Daniel Barreiro, also of Lorain, said he’d spoken to his brother an hour before police found David Barreiro dead inside an apartment at 4160 Shore Drive.

Just before 3 a.m. Saturday, Lorain police responded to the apartment after receiving 911 calls of loud banging and gunshots.

Police are looking for Abline Cannon in connection with the homicide.

Cannon had arrived at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with a gunshot to his right arm, according to a police report. Cannon was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for further treatment.

Police said he walked away from the hospital against medical advice. Police said the public should consider Cannon armed and dangerous and to contact local police with information pertaining to his whereabouts. Residents may call (866) 492-6833, the U.S. Marshal’s tip line, with information on Cannon’s whereabouts.

Cannon is on parole stemming from a drug trafficking conviction from 2012 in Cuyahoga County. He served about a year in prison and was released July 2013. He has several other drug cases dating back to 1998.

On Sunday, Daniel Barreiro said he does not know Cannon and did not provide more details about how his brother died. Capt. Roger Watkins said Sunday there were no updates to share.

Daniel Barreiro said it was unbelievable how many people loved his brother.

A GoFundMe page to pay for his funeral raised more than $1,000 in 10 hours.

David Barreiro loved to laugh, Daniel said, and his unique way of doing so has been passed on to his daughter, Kailani Barreiro.

“His daughter is a spitting image of him,” Daniel Barreiro said. “Even her laugh is the same as his.”

Before his death, David Barreiro wrote and produced music under the name Dae Billz. Friends have posted links to his music and videos of him rapping on Facebook as a way to remember him.

“Music was his life,” Daniel Barreiro said. “He was an awesome father that was super patient and kind with his daughter. Everyone has a funny story of him. He was very loved and respected by everyone.

“(David) was extremely smart and wise. He was definitely ahead of his years,” Daniel Barreiro continued. “He made music that made you laugh and cry and dance and feel good.”
