LORAIN – Police are investigating a Feb. 17 incident that led to the death of a 46-year-old Lorain man.
Lt. Ed Super said around 11 a.m., William Miller attempted to break up a fight in the 1000 block of Highland Park Boulevard that was the result of “an argument about a girl” when he suffered some sort of medical emergency and was taken to Metro Health in Cleveland, where he later died.
“We’re still waiting for results to come back from the coroner,” Super said. “There were five or six people involved in the fight and that could be considered a riot. If Mr. Miller passed away because of a medical emergency that occurred because of the fight, there could be charges.”
Super said right now they do not have confirmation of what caused Miller’s death, but members of the deceased’s family speculated it had been some sort of stroke or aneurysm.
“What’s likely going to happen is we’ll get the results back from the coroner and then turn the case over to the county prosecutor to see if there are charges that are going to be filed,” he said. “Pretty much everyone involved is upset that Mr. Miller passed away.”
