ELYRIA — The Regional Income Tax Agency will conduct a subpoena program Monday through Dec. 7 on behalf of the city to update municipal income tax filings and bring delinquent income tax filings into compliance.
RITA representatives will be at the city’s Wastewater Pollution Control Plant at 1194 Gulf Road from Monday through Dec. 7 to assist those who have received subpoenas in the mail. The subpoenas have appointment times on them.
Those who have received subpoenas have the option to file the required tax returns on the RITA website at www.ritaohio.com, or submit all requested tax returns or required documentation to: Compliance Department 199, Regional Income Tax Agency, P.O. Box 470538, Broadview Heights, OH 44147-0538.
Required documents include:
- W-2 forms (all copies pertaining to local tax)
- Federal tax returns (including all applicable scheduled and 1099s).
- Any other documentation pertaining to local tax filing.
- Any evidence of exemption (proof of full retirement, minor status, no taxable income or nonresident).
Recipients of a subpoena do not have to appear if you complete one of the two options above before your scheduled date to appear on the subpoena.
