LORAIN — In the era of making the world’s resources last, the International City will play host to an eco-friendly fashion show.
On Saturday, Rock for Water will be in town at the Lorain Palace Theater. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $20 at the door and may be bought in advance for $17. VIP tickets will be $25. All tickets can be bought online at LorainPalace.org
Audience members will have a chance to “rock the runway” if they arrive before 6 p.m.
Rock for Water will feature a competition consisting of recycled fashion. Seven teams will vie for two $500 prizes. The voting process will be done by a panel of notable people of Lorain County as well as members of the audience.
Audience members will have the option of paying $1 for each individual vote; proceeds will go to Black River Clean-Up and the Sierra Club.
“We are excited to be participating once again in an amazing, creative, top-quality event that involves so many members of the community — all coming together to support the work of the Black River Clean-Up,” FireFish founder Joan Perch said.
Rock For Water is in its ninth year with no signs of slowing down.
“We hope that these creatively designed fashion ‘art’ pieces, made from recycled items that people see every day, inspires them to become more interested in recycling and upcycling what they have at home, work and in their lives,” Perch said. “We also hope this event engages them in caring for our water and natural resources.”
Once the fashion show is over, the fun will keep going. For the first time, FireFish will hold an after-party at 713 W. Fifth St. There will be appetizers and entertainment by FireFish’s DJ Ro. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 10 p.m.
