ELYRIA — A North Ridgeville man was sentenced to 15 years Wednesday after pleading guilty to rape charges in connection with the sexual assault of a girl.
Douglas Humm, 55, pleaded guilty to six counts of rape as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, according to court documents. In May, Humm was indicted on 11 counts of rape, but prosecutors dismissed five of the counts in the amended indictment to which Humm pleaded guilty.
As part of the agreed-upon sentence, Judge Christopher Rothgery sentenced Humm to 15 years in prison immediately after receiving the defendant’s guilty plea. Additionally, Humm will have to register as a Tier III sex offender, which means he will have to register with law enforcement every 90 days for the rest of his life upon release from prison.
Humm was arrested by North Ridgeville police in March in one count of rape and was indicted by a grand jury in on additional charges. Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis Will has said a police investigation found that Humm had molested the girl 11 times while she was between 8 years old and 13 years old.
