ELYRIA — A woman cited Monday by police for using a rolling pin to smash the mirrors on a parked Ford van at Home Depot on Market Drive told a police officer she did it because she was having a “bad week.”

According to a police report, 61-year-old Anna Sabo of West River Road North in Elyria, was cited with criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor, after she broke the mirrors on a 51-year-old Elyria man’s Ford E-250.

The victim told responding officers he had gone out to his van at 6 p.m. Monday and found the side mirrors shattered and the driver’s side windshield wiper bent backward, according to a police report.

Video surveillance footage from the store showed Sabo take a wooden rolling pin from her Ford SUV, which was parked next to the victim’s van, hit the passenger side mirror then the driver’s side mirror before messing with the windshield wiper.

An officer got the license plate number of Sabo’s vehicle from the footage, went to her home and confronted her about the incident. Sabo told the officer she damaged the van, “stating she’s had a ‘bad week,’” according to the police report.

Sabo is scheduled to be arraigned today in Elyria Municipal Court, according to Elyria police.
