LORAIN — A man identified as “a person of interest” in a Vine Avenue homicide made his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.

Tramaine White, 29, was arraigned in Lorain Municipal Court on charges of felonious assault, having weapons under disability, discharge of a firearm on prohibited premises, conveyance of drugs into a detention facility or institution and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. White was arrested Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting of Kevin Price, 16, a student at Lorain High School.

Judge Thomas Elwell set bail at $1 million after city Prosecutor Jeff Szabo said White was a person of interest in White’s homicide. Szabo, who also noted that White was on federal probation, said further charges could be filed.

Police said Price was shot as a birthday party in the 300 block of Vine Avenue was ending around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. According to a news release, several people got into an altercation, and Price was shot and died at the scene. Grief counselors were available at the high school today for students.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call Lorain Police Department at 440-204-2105.
