LORAIN — Three people were injured when a car and motorcycle collided Sunday afternoon at Grove Avenue and East 31st Street.

Lorain police responded to the crash about 1 p.m., according to Officer Robert Hargreaves.

Witnesses told police the car was traveling north on Grove Avenue and was making a left turn onto East 31st Street when it struck the motorcycle, which was traveling south on Grove Avenue.

Police also said one of the occupants of the motorcycle hit the windshield of the car, leaving a large indent on the window of the car.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Their injuries were serious, but officers couldn’t provide details.

Witnesses told police the passenger wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Hargreaves said the driver of the car had pain in her back, neck and hip, and was taken to Mercy Health Lorain Hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt; no passengers were in the vehicle.

The motorcycle was totaled in the crash, and the car had heavy front-end damage.

Lorain police are investigating the crash.
