NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Ward 1 residents will gain a precinct in the general election, following a Board of Elections meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The new precinct will include sections of the Stone Creek development off Stoney Ridge Road, including Pebble Court and Sugar Creek Lane — previously part of precinct 1-D. The precinct reached its cap of 14,000 voters, Board of Elections director Paul Adams said, prompting the creation of the new division.
“Due to the growth that is occurring there, we didn’t see that it was possible just to readjust boundaries that currently exist,” he said.
According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates from May, the city has continued its trend as the fastest-growing city in the county. It added more than 4,000 residents in eight years — taking its population to almost 34,000.
Adams said the board is are looking at polling place changes, which will be confirmed at the board’s August meeting.
