George R. Kushner, 82, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his residence, following a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1935 in Elyria and was a lifelong resident of Elyria, where he graduated from Elyria High School.
George worked for LTV Steel for 39 and a half years where he retired as the plant general foreman. He was a member of the Elks and Polish Clubs both in Elyria. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and coaching baseball for LaPorte Hot Stove when his sons were growing up.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his cherished wife of 60 years, Mary (nee Bradley); his sons; daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (nee Bradley); sons, Brad (Patty) of Elyria and Chris (Cindy) of Vermilion; grandchildren, Gregory (Kelley), Joshua (Bailey), Kayleigh (Scott) and Jordan (Eric Lauer); great-grandchild, Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Suzie (nee Chomi); son, Robert.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria, 440-322-4626, where funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, January 18, 2018. The Reverend Kathy Ketchum of Community of Faith UCC will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
