Robert W. "Bob" Huffman, 88, of North Ridgeville passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at O'Neill Healthcare, in North Ridgeville, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 8, 1929 in Ashtabula.
Bob served his Country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict, serving in Japan. He was the owner/operator and a truck driver for 45 years, retiring in 1995. He previously worked on the Great Lakes aboard the U.S. Gypsum as an oiler from 1946-1948.
He was raised in the Nazarene Church and attended the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene with his family. He was a member of the Teamster Union #407 and was active in the Hot Stove League during the 1960-70s in North Ridgeville. He enjoyed gardening, loved nature, attending sporting events, watching his grandchildren play sports, vacationing, traveling and his John Deere tractor.
Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife of 69 years, Viola J.; son, Tim (Pam) Huffman from North Ridgeville; daughter, Luanne (Alan) Wack of Elyria; daughter-in-law, Linda Jackson of Florida; grandchildren, Heather Beatty, Chad Jackson, Nickole DeLong, Brent Huffman, Justen Wack, Jordan Wack, Jaron Wack, Savannah Wack; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Huffman of Texas, Ralph (Jackie) Huffman of Florida, Earl Huffman of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Huffman (1979); great-granddaughter, Eliana Huffman (2006); parents, Volly and Hallie Huffman.
A celebration of life service will be at 4 P.M. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Elyria Community Church of the Nazarene, 1107 Clemens Drive, Elyria. Morris Huffman will officiate the service. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #1079.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, Elyria.
