Ronald David Gibson of Oberlin passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ron was born April 7th, 1954 in South Korea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jo Anne Gibson; grandparents, Beryl and Ruth Gibson, Jim and Beatrice Alford; cousin, Sherry (Alford) Smillie; aunts and uncles, Jim and Melba Alford, Russell and Mae Gibson, and niece, Stephanie (Smith) Kleinhenz.
He is survived by his siblings, Peggy (Gibson) Smith, Susan (Tony Staples) Gibson, Kendrick (Manuela) Gibson, Karen (Errin) Hart and Brenda (Keith) Scheiderer; aunts and uncles, Fred and Sandy Gibson and Frances and Dick Rieser, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A 1972 graduate of Mount Vernon Academy, he went on to obtain his Associate Degree of Nursing from Kettering College of Medical Arts. Beginning with childhood he was an extremely gifted and accomplished musician. One of his proudest achievements was obtaining his Bachelors of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Ron's deepest passion was the organ manifested through performances, restoration and finding new homes for "orphan" pipe organs. Ron touched the lives of so many with his generous nature and uniquely giving heart and will be deeply missed by all.
Join his family and friends in a memorial service and celebration of life for Ronald at 3 P.M., Sunday, Aug 26, 2018 at the Peace Community Church, 44 East Lorain St., Oberlin.
